Summary of the Course:
Imagine a day in the future when Africa awakens to an AI assistant who breaks down a day’s schedule, recommends customers to call, then breaks that down even further to clients that are likely to do business with you, or better yet, an AI bot that tells a company in real time where it may find customers and suggests how to efficiently reach them. Or even an AI-enhanced agricultural application that can forecast the price of produce and suggest reasonable prices to enable a farmer-entrepreneur to turn a profit. Simply by understanding artificial intelligence and taking part in its revolution through knowledge that can be reduced to simple concepts, you as an individual, a business, or an industry can inform and enable an effective and robust African economy. All of these are possibilities and opportunities that will be available to you.
With an emphasis on the African context, this condensed course will offer an introduction to the fundamental ideas of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in several fields. It will also provide an introduction to data that will aid in your understanding of the methods used for gathering, visualizing, and analyzing data. In addition, this course will guide you through the goal-setting and stakeholder communication phases of the lifecycle of an AI project. The course will also discuss difficulties and restrictions in AI’s use cases as well as ethical issues and the influence of AI on society from a broad African viewpoint.
You will be given the task of developing your own basic AI model at the end of the course utilizing online tools, which will help you get more familiar with the potential for AI innovation.
